Watermelon Man (1970)

Directed by Melvin Van Peebles.

Cast:
Godfrey Cambridge, Estelle Parsons, Howard Caine, Mantan Moreland.

Hilarious 1970 comedy, Watermelon Man takes us deep into the life of a white suburban bigoted insurance man who wakes up one morning to find he has turned into a Black man. Oh my word! Now he is a white bigot in black skin who has to contend with a shocked wife, his kids, angry neighbors.

The movie, Watermelon Man, highlights the bigtory of many white-only surburban communities that think they're somehow better than Black folks because of their skin which provided them opportunities and privileges denied Black people because of discriminatory laws, practices, and attitudes. 128 min.
