U.S.P.S. Black Cinema Legacy Stamps:

On July 28, 2008 The Museum of African American Cinema (MoAAC) hosted and co-sponsored with the United States Postal Service, its New York State unveiling of the postal service's Philantic Division inaugural release of the U.S.P.S. collector's series tribute and celebration of early Black Cinema Legacy Stamps and the legendary Black stars who pioneered, carved-out, and created Black Hollywood.

This special, spectactular event was held in the art gallery of the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building in central Harlem. And it was attended by local elected officials: Hon. Keith Wright, Assemblyman; Hon. Bill Perkins, State Senator; Hon. Denny Farrell, Assemblyman; and Hon. Ruben Diaz Jr., Bronx Borough President . In addition the greater Harlem community came out to support and participant in this historic event.

This celebratory event was not only marked with the unveiling of these history making stamps but collectors were able to obtain the signatured U.S.P.S "cancelled" insignia placed on their Black Cinema stamp purchases to authenticate their "collectible" status. There were a total of nine Black Cinema Legacy Stamps issued.
